‘No IPOB member arrested in Anambra’

POLICE
The Anambra State Police Command yesterday declared that no arrest had been made of any member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the state.

The Police Public Relation’s Officer (PPRO) in the state, Princess Nkeiruka Nwode, told our correspondent in Awka the state capital yesterday that the command had had no problem with IPOB members since the group was proscribed.

She said that members of the group had been peaceful and everyone in the state had been going about their normal businesses.

Members of the group in the state have gone into hiding since the proscription order was announced. Sales of IPOB insignia, flags and other items are also no longer on display at public places in the state.

Yesterday, the group raised the alarm that the federal government was planning another round of massacre against the members.

A statement signed by the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, in Awka yesterday and made available to reporters stated: “We the family of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to urgently draw the attention of the civilized world to the dastardly plot being perfected by Nigeria against peaceful, unarmed members of IPOB residing in Biafra land in the next few weeks.
