Vacate our property: LGA issues quit notice to SARS in Rivers
The Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS has been evicted from their command at the Obio-Akpor International Market, Rukpokwu in Obio-Akpor Local government area of Rivers State.
The eviction is contained in a notice signed by the Legal Adviser of Obio-Akpor Local government council, Victor Owhonda Wokem
The notice sighted DAILY POST gave them one month to vacate the property, with emphasis to leave on or before the 30th of November this year.
The Obio-Akpor Local government Council said the decision to evict SARS was to allow for major renovation work to be carried out on the property.
Copied in the notice are the Rivers state government, the Inspector General of Police and the Rivers State Commissioner of Police.
The said property was given to SARS by former Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local government, Timothy Nsirim.
The Rivers State Government has been at loggerheads with some security agencies in the state, especially the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Nigeria Police, which personnel the state government once accused of involvement in kidnapping and hijacking ballot boxes during elections.
